We left a place that we named "Anoritooq" / "Blizzard Place" from Tasiujaq. When it gets dark we have to find a place to stay overnight. It was not far away from Aupaluk but the wind was too strong and we could not see the route.

For dinner we ate lamb meat from Greenland.

When we left Tasiujaq it was a great experience. There were a lot of people saying goodbye to us. I followed the other guys by skidoo so I could take videotapes of them travelling among rough ice area. When we at least reach the land, it was a little bit difficult to go there because of the rough ice again. And the stones are very tough for the sleds.

Aupaluk sunday 18. January 1998.

I was in a gospel church this morning. It first time I went to a church like this one. They played music and sang gospel.

In the evening we had a coming-together feast with the local people at the gym in school. They brought their on food with them. There were speeches. We talked about the purpose of the expedition. We ate frozen caribou and arctic char. Caribou cooked in oven. Ptarmigans. And sealoil.

Aupaluk Monday 19. Januar 1998.

Today Ono and Matiarsi left Aupaluk for kangirsuk. I visited the school and talked with the kids there. I talked about the purpose of the expedition.

Today it snows a little evit with no wind. It is only about minus 20 outside.

I talked with Ono by the radio this evening. They are okay and have reach halfway to Kangirsuk. They were just about to eat dinner.

AUPALUK-KANGIRSUK Tuesday january 20^th 1998.

I flew from Aupaluk to Kangirsuk at 13:30 by AIR INUIT. I looked for the others on our way, but unfortunately I did not see them.

There are about 500 inhabitants in Kangirsuk. The airport is placed in a mountain which is a little bit higher than the town.

We stay by the mayor George Haukai and his wife Lucy and there kids.

Ono and Mathias arrived to Kangirsuk at 15:30. There were a lot of people near the place where they will arrive. It was really nice to see all these exited people.

For dinner we ate frozen arctic char with sealoil.
