Aupaluk 17. Januar 1998 THE PUPPY AVVA GREETINGS TO THE KIDS FROM AUPALUK When we left Tasiujaq it was blizzard and we should drive the sled in between the rough ice on the sea. I could not see anything at all. It was first time I drove a sled in the sea ice. The sea ice is wet therefore my feet gets wet too, and I was scared of falling in the sea, but fortunately we got to the land. On the land it was blizzard, and sometimes it was difficult to see because the wind just blow into our eyes, thatīs was really tough. We stopped at night when itīs gets dark and blizzard. The next day we had to stay in that lake where we stopped to stay overnight. All that day long I was covered with the snow and slept all day long too. Eventhough I should pee, I could not, because when I first get away from the very warm hut I made, it will be very cold to get into it again. Sometimes my other dogmate starts howling, they must for sure have frozen too. When the weather gets better we went to Aupaluk which is situated on the westshore of Ungava Bay. The kids there are very nice, but because some of my dogsmate can bite, we aske them to not come too close to us. It hurts in my sole, because my hair on my feet gets too long, and then the ice gets stuck there. Trying to get it away I bite it off, but thatīs mean I get bleed. But today my owner cuts my feet hair away, itīs helsp a lot. Yesterday I smelled something very interesting, a smell that seems to taste good. The suddently I saw caribous running away. I really liked to follow them, but . After two days her ein Auplauk we plan to go to Kangirsuk, which is the next village here. Kids, have fun everybody Avva ONO |
