Born in Aasiaat in Greenland and grew up in Ilimanaq. Ono had  interest in dogsledging from his early childhood and have been a hunter and dogsledder all his youth.  He has got family relations with Knud Rasmussen and way up his youth he always wanted to travel in all of Inuit countries.

I 1969 Ono Fleischer got educated as a shipbuilder and worked for several years as skipper on a fishingboat at the west coast of Greenland. In 1980 he got educated as a teacher.

1975 he drove all alone on dogsledge from Ilulissat to Qaanaaq (map) on a Knud Rasmussen memorial expedition across the Melville Bay. In 1992 he made his, so far greatest achievement on The Great Sledge Expedition II.
